The New Federal Housing Tax Credit
Now Includes Existing Home Owners!
Qualified move-up or repeat home buyers purchasing any kind of home are eligible to claim up to $8,000 credit.
Move-up or repeat home buyers are defined as a home owner who has owned and resided in a home for at least five consecutive years of the eight years prior to the purchase date. The new home does not have to be more expensive to qualify.
Purchases under contract by April 30,2010 and close within 30 days are eligible for a credit equal to 10% of the homes purchase price up to a maximum of $8,000 for first-time buyers and $6,500 for repeat buyers. The income limit for single taxpayers is $125,00; and married/joint filers is $225,00.
